Spring crop whole star anise from Guangxi

This is the spring-harvested whole fruit of Chinese star anise (Illicium verum). Chinese standards and origin trade may describe the spring-mature class as Jiaohua star anise, while “spring flower star anise” is only a literal translation. We use the consistent international product name Spring Star Anise Whole.

Specify grade instead of relying on the crop name

The crop name identifies the harvest season, but it does not replace a buyer specification. State the required whole-fruit percentage, broken tolerance, appearance, moisture, foreign matter, sensory target and any microbiological, pesticide-residue or contaminant limits. Volatile oil and anethole values can vary by lot and should be confirmed through the current specification or COA.

Applications and product choice

Spring Star Anise Whole can be considered for foodservice, broth and spice packs, seasoning manufacture, distribution and repacking. If the material will be ground, blended or extracted and whole-star presentation is unnecessary, Spring Broken Star Anise Pieces may be more appropriate.
